Our Musicians

Jacob is an 11th Grade student at Laurel Heights Secondary School. He has been playing the clarinet for over eight years, and is part of the KW Youth Orchestra. He is currently exploring other instruments, including the saxophone and the bass clarinet. He is incredibly grateful to be able to share the beauty of music with the community.

Elspeth is a 12th Grade student at Laurel Heights Secondary School. She plays the alto saxophone for the KWinds Youth Ensemble, LHSS Senior bands and volunteers for Laurier’s Next Gen Youth Orchestra. Elspeth enjoys music, Studio Ghibli films and dance. She is pumped to explore and share new tunes with KW!

ShaoEn Tang is a Grade 12 student at Laurel Heights Secondary School. She currently plays with the KW Youth Concert Band, Youth Orchestra, Chamber orchestra and Waterloo Chamber Players. She is looking forward to playing with the KWinds Youth Ensemble and giving back to her community.

Ziyi Ye is a Grade 12 student at Laurel Heights Secondary School. She has been playing the flute for four years, and is a member of her high school’s senior concert band. Ziyi is excited for an awesome year with KWinds Youth Ensemble while learning new pieces along the way. 

Alex Zan is a Grade 12 student at Laurel Heights Secondary School with over six years of experience playing the clarinet. He serves as Concertmaster of the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Concert Band and Principal Clarinetist of the Kitchener-Waterloo Community Youth Orchestra. Alex is beyond grateful to have the opportunity to enjoy chamber music while sharing the gift of music!
